The first generation of the E85 Z4 was released in 2002. The Z4 is available in both roadster and coupe models. All Z4s in North American markets are powered by inline six-cylinder engines, but a European markets have the option for a four-cylinder engine. The new E89 Z4 began production for the 2009 model year.
